WHAT IS IT? (SUMMARY)
The Battle of Stalingrad was a major turning point of the war where the German Army invaded Stalingrad, in order to continue their path to world dominance. The Germans were trying to take control of the city's Caucasus, where they were looking to take over, so they could take control of their oil fields. Hitler ordered the German Army to head upwards to take control of Stalingrad. Sources say that Hitler wanted to take over Stalingrad because of the name of the city. That's one of the reasons why the city was worth a lot to Stalin himself because it had his name, so he heavily protected his city. Once the Germans got there though, they were stopped in their tracks by the Red Army. This started the retreat of Germany back to their starting point to the city of Berlin. The Soviets defeated the German Army on the Eastern Front.
